The Role

ABC Radio Darwin is seeking a producer for a 12 month contract who knows how to find a great story and use Radio to share it with an audience.

We’re looking for someone with the tenacity to keep calling until they track down the very best guests, who is creative in how they make stories sound on the radio, and who can engage the audience.

You’ll need good local knowledge, or the capacity to quickly develop it, along with an understanding of what matters to the people of Darwin.

The Job

The role will involve:

  • Producing ABC Radio Darwin’s Breakfast Program.
  • Preparing distinctive and compelling content for audiences on digital and social.
  • Producing the program in-studio, managing talk-back callers and guests.
  • Contributing to Emergency Broadcasting as required.

About You

We are after a team player. Someone who listens. Someone who takes a creative approach. Someone who can make great radio and do all of that on a slow news day.

We are looking for someone who’s proven they can make a radio show that will reach and keep a broad audience, but also extend that content on digital platforms.

You will also have:

  • Accomplished program making and presentation skills, with a proven ability to make original and engaging audio and cross platform content for target audience.
  • Accomplished editorial skills including the ability to source and analyse information and exercise sound judgement.
  • A strong interest in and capacity to break news and produce local current affairs content.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and build relationships with people from a range of diverse backgrounds.
